Perspective: Jem
Chapter: 1-3
When I broke my arm when I was only 13 years, I was extremely worried about being able to play football ever again because I wanted to be a professional football player when I grow up. Day the my arm was better, my doctor told me I could still play football with my pals, but I wasn't going to able to be a professional football player when I grow up due to all the damage on my arm, but I was still happy with that I could still play the game with my pals. The other thing that caught my attention was that my arms weren't of the same length, the one that I broke was noticeably smaller than the one that didn't break, and my thumb was always parallel with my. When I got home to see my dad, Atticus who always read to my sister and I whenever he could. Atticus is the only parent that we had left because me and Scouts mom died, Scout doesn't miss though, she was only 2 at the time, but me... I miss a whole lot. I also saw my little sister Scout and our house keeper, Calpurnia when I got back into Maycomb, Scout and Calpurnia were always fighting and arguing, but Calpurnia would always win because Atticus would always take her side, I think he does that because Scout's still really little and she still makes some wrong decisions.
I think everything went downhill for Scout and I the summer when I was only ten and Scout was about six, we were just playing in our backyard like every summer day when we heard a noise coming from our neighbor's, Miss Rachael, collard patch. at first, Me and Scout thought it might have been a puppy, but then when we reached the wired fence, we saw a short kid with snow like hair, blue eyes, and also wore a blue linen shorts that buttoned up to his shirt. his name was Charles Harris Baker, but he preferred to be called Dill, he was really eccentric, He told us that his aunt had entered him into a beauty pageant when he was little and won five dollars out of it, Miss Rachael gave Dill the money and he had gone to the picture show 20 times with it. He also told us about Dracula and in return we told him about the Radley place. He was actually fascinated the story and he didn't even Irk In the way we thought he would of. we learned that Dill was amazed in the stories, legends, and myths like the Boo Radley, the Malevolent Phantom of Maycomb, He even dared me to go to the Radley place and try to get Boo out of the house,I was persevered to do the dare and I didn't want to chicken out on a dare. Dill came up with another one in a couple of days, and instead of getting Boo out I was to go and touch his house, I did the dare, but Boo Radley heard me touch the and we saw him turn on his light and then off.
Summer was over, and Dill left back home to Meridian Mississippi and Scout was excited to start school. I and Atticus came to a compromise and I was going to take Scout to school on the first day. I told Scout to not talk to me or ask me to play with her during school. Scout was going to be in the first grade. I went to check on Scout during recess, she told me she didn't like school and the first grade, I told her that it was a new way of teaching. She then to me that she got hit with a ruler six times on her first day. During lunch Scout was beating Walter a Cunningham, She was saying that he made her start on the wrong foot. I asked him to come for lunch, since he wasn't able to afford food. Atticus and Walter were getting along wonderfully. When Walter came over for lunch, Calpurina and Scout had a argument, Scout was being condescended and making Walter feel less than us. I guess Calpurnia was right. I couldn't thinking about the indigenous Radley and his house, and how the father of Boo Radley died. But his son is just like him, and I cant wait till next summer when Dill comes back to Maycomb.
